With a clean-running 675 hp (503 kW) Cummins® QSX-15 engine and a weight of 83,480 (37,865 kg), the mid-size SX-6 offers a rare combination of power and mobility allowing it to excel in different applications. The SX-6 is equipped with a high performance 6-cylinder diesel engine that provides power to the rotor through a direct drum drive. The machine is capable of cutting up to 20” (508mm) deep and 100” (2,540mm) wide.

Roadtec SX series machines are heavy-duty self-propelled units used for two distinct applications: Soil Stabilization and Asphalt Reclamation.

Extendable, Sealed and Ressurized Cabin

The operator cabin on the SX-6 and SX-8 extend up to 18” past the right side of the machine, allowing the operator to have full visibility, without sacrificing comfort or ergonomics.

4-Speed Transmission

It is often necessary to operate at different cutter speeds in order to balance production with the required material quality at each project. Roadtec is the only manufacturer to offer a 4-speed cutter transmission to achieve the highest levels of production at each drum rpm. Rather than simply altering the engine rpm to modify drum speed, the transmission allows the machine to operate at peak power output at four different selectable drum speeds. Selection of cutter speeds is simple and requires no time consuming modifications to the belt drive or pulley arrangement.

Roadtec offers a variety of drums each one specifically designed to fit your specific application. Soil stabilizationdrums are designed to provide the most productive result while maximizing the machines horsepower. Reclamation drums are heavy duty, up to the task of working in demanding environments and providing the best gradation for the job at hand.

Airflow

Roadtec’s SX series has an efficient cooling system that pulls air from the top of the machine, where it is cleanest. The air is exhausted through the rear radiator packs. Puling air in this way limits the dust that travels through the cooling system, eliminating, the amount of debris that can enter the engine or cause corrosion. Other manufacturers pull air from the side, which can cause clogs and machine breakdown.

Bi-directional Travel

Reclaimers are large, and some can be difficult to maneuver in confined areas. With the SX-6 and SX-8, the ability to cut while moving forward or reverse eliminates this issue. There is no need to turn the machine around. With a simple toggle switch, the machine can be moved forward or reverse, and continue to cut in either direction, saving time and money.

4-Wheel Drive Propel System

The 4-wheel drive propel system on all Roadtec SX models delivers 100% traction control to perform consistently in the most challenging environments.

Balanced Weight

The weight on SX models is evenly distributed between 2 axles and balanced over the cutter, enabling optimal controlled power and constant traction. This feature complements the 4-wheel drive system and allows the SX to maintain consistent cut depths.

Four Available Steering Options

SX operators can choose coordinate, crab, front only, or rear only steering. These options are easily controlled via joystick, enabling quick response and smooth changes, ensuring the best in maneuverability.

Intuitive Controls w/joystick

Intuitive, easy to reach joystick controls allow SX operators to work quickly and comfortably. Simple and straightforward controls are clearly marked and backlit to increase worker safety and convenience.

Water Emulsion Additive System

A Water Emulsion Additive System uses simple controls to easily control and monitor additive system parameters, such as flow intensity and spray nozzle activation. The system is an option on all SX models.

Guardian Telematics System

Guardian® is the industry’s only live 2-way telematics system and provides detailed remote diagnostics in real time. Guardian, which is optionally available on the SX-5, maximizes performance, limits downtime, and protects your investment.

Fixed Cutter Drum

The Roadtec SX-6e features a fixed cutter drum. This adds durability, meaning there is no need to sacrifice gradation for production. Roadtec machines are unique in that the area between the drum and housing is small enough that gradation is automatic.  Since our drum is fixed to the housing, you do not need to worry about large chunks of material getting through. You can achieve a higher quality, fine gradation with one pass.
