Snowmelter 40-SG

The Trecan 40-SG is an excellent choice for airports, universities, parking lots and shopping plazas. With a capacity of 40 tons per hour, its 9 million BTU/hr burner can melt 76 to 152 cubic meters of snow with an average snow density of 5 to 10 m per hour. A Trecan 40-SG will use 9,000 SCFH or 255 cubic meters of gas per hour.

The top of the melting tank or pit is at grade to allow snow to be plowed directly into the melting tank/pit. In ground tanks are typically cast in place concrete pits, whereas tanks for multi-level parking structures are normally fabricated carbon steel tanks (insulated and lagged). In both cases, a tank cover is included for safety when not is use. An electric hoist mounted on a gantry provides the means to open and close the tank cover.

The following are not supplied by Trecan: concrete pit construction, gas piping to equipment package, water supply and discharge piping to melting tank, fused power supply to control panel. Also the unloading, mounting, installation and field connection should be handled by the local general contractor.
